Craig's recollections (Oct 2026): Craig stayed with his grandmother a couple of times at Thanksgiving while at RPI. She was sweet. Her Manchester apartment had a big metal grille in the floor, about 3 ft square - the register of a gravity furnace in the cellar - a hazard for a barefoot boy from Hawaii; and the kitchen at the back sloped downhill, the building having settled long before, and she had simply adapted to it. In the summer of 1967, as Craig headed home after his freshman year at RPI, it was decided that Mary should come to live with the family in Hawaii. Dinny (the high-school principal) and Emily drove her to Manchester airport; Craig met her at JFK. She had brought an enormous basket of food for the flight - though airlines then served meals - and they flew the United non-stop to Honolulu, about 11 hours. Apart from Manchester to JFK, she had never flown before, and she was tremendously excited. She never talked about Dudley; Craig never met him (Dudley died when Craig was nine months old). | Vahey, Mary Catherine (I5)

Craig's recollections (Oct 2026): Emily was a little mite of a thing - very bubbly, very sweet, very happy. Dinny (Dudley William, a Manchester school principal) and Craig's father John were relatively close; John kept in touch with Dinny and Emily and once flew to New Hampshire to spend a summer with them. Emily was not fond of her mother-in-law Mary, and gave Craig Mary's 1938 portrait, saying she could not stand looking at it. Emily was at school with Grace Metalious (born Grace DeRepentigny, Manchester, 8 Sep 1924) and could recognise many of the characters in Peyton Place - including herself. In 1967 Dinny and Emily drove Mary to Manchester airport for her flight to Hawaii. | Piaseczny, Emily Barbara (I680)

Craig's recollections, continued: In Hawaii (summer 1967) Craig's parents moved out of their bedroom - the only air-conditioned one - so that Mary could have it. Craig's father did not meet her at the airport and paid her little or no attention. They took her sightseeing; she began to complain of an 'itchy rectum', and Craig took her to several doctors - he believed it was her way of seeking attention, but it only made his father take even less interest. After a month or two she decided to go home, to the disappointment of Dinny and Emily, who had hoped for a few more months' respite. On her last evening the family took her out to dinner; Craig's father was persuaded to come, but got angry with her before the appetizers arrived and walked out.
It was her only great journey apart from crossing to Ellis Island in 1916.
She loved the Red Sox (1967 was their 'Impossible Dream' pennant year) and Craig believes she died watching them on television.
At Thanksgiving 1966, when the American bishops had just ended compulsory meatless Fridays, Craig asked her whether she thought the Pope infallible - of course she did - and whether she would now eat meat on Fridays. No: she had always had fish on Friday and she liked it. The Pope had not said she HAD to eat meat on Friday, only that she now could. | Vahey, Mary Catherine (I5)

Daniel Crumpler died early in life but PR shows name "DAVID". Given that there is a later son of John and Betty also called Daniel suspect that Daniel died before 1801. Burial Record could correspond but in the name of David.

DATA ERROR IN THE PRINTED CHART: he is shown as a son of Johannes Herzog
(1773-1840) but with a birth year of 1772 - one year BEFORE his supposed father.
One of the two years must be a misprint. Transcribed here exactly as printed so
the error is visible rather than silently corrected.

David arrived on the Ship Shalimar in January 1859 into Victoria. What he did for the next 10 years is unknown. But at some point he went to Launceston Tasmania, where he met and married Christina BRUMBY. They returned to Victoria after the birth of Emma Blanche, who died in 1871. David and Christina came to WA about 1898. Nothing much is known about David and his family. | DEWAR, David (I000000601984652)

Dear Julie, on reading your info, I notice you make reference to Norma Frips
"House of Ronan", Norma passed her info to maureen so that she can write the
book.
I am assuming that you are from the James (1st son of Michael and MaryAnn)
as you have more information on him included.
We have recently found some church records written in latin and had them
translated by a priest friend. They give mary Ann's parents as Catherine
Brooks and Timothy O'Reilly and Michael's as Honora Cranley and Michael
Ronan. We are hoping this may help in tracking down where in Cork and
Tipperary they came from.
I will get back to you soon, Phyllys. | Ronan, James (Isaac Rownan) Edward (I1911)

Dear Sue,
Thank you for the info on William and Eliza Hunt, I didn't have info of where they came from in England. That helps out with the three children I didn't have.
Do you have info on the second marriages of Ellen and Eliza?
Ellen Booth married second John Brooks Webley and had 9 more children.
Eliza Truslove married Hugh Jackson and had 2 more children.
As all the other info you have seems to match mine pretty well, I thought it must be the computer program that needn't include it. As you have their death dates, I gather you have this information as well.
Edward John Oliver had a family before his marriage to Amy Booth?
I do have a few more things to add, as my genealogy is on another computer and will take a little time to organise. So will sent you a copy to compare a little later.
I have double checked the Ellen Susan Truslove d/o John A & Mary, I can't find any info.so where I got it originally don't know. There is an Ellen Mary Anne which I had, died the same year.
Just before I go, do you know Norma Fripp? She was researching the Fripp Hunt Truslove connection about twenty years ago. I don't know where she lives now but when Gordon was alive they lived in Sorrento.
Cheers for now
