NOT THE NEWCASTLE HARRISON BUSHBY. The handwritten Bushby chart (from Keith Bushby's one-name study) shows a Harrison Bushby, coach painter, born about 1869, with a family in Newcastle upon Tyne (wife Alice Liddle). Keith Bushby himself later wrote that he had wrongly assumed that man was James and Martha's son, because this Harrison "disappeared" from English records when the family emigrated. This Harrison was born in Barrow in 1871, went to Sydney with the family about 1880 and married Mary Elizabeth Blanche Brady at Glebe in 1895. The Newcastle family belongs to a different Harrison Bushby and has not been attached here. | Bushby, Harrison (I513983577)

Obituary (as supplied by Craig): Thaddeus Piaseczny, also known as Ted Herbert, 90, died Saturday night, 27 May 2006, at the home where he was born on Cypress Street in Manchester, NH, peacefully with his family by his side. Born 18 December 1915, one of seven children of Stanislaw Piaseczny and Karolina Herbut (his professional name comes from his mother's maiden name). Hallsville grammar school, Manchester; night school at Lawrence High School, Mass. First job: farm chores at the old Huse Farm on Mammoth Road, the start of his love of horses; then the local shoe shops to help support the family. Learned the violin at eight as therapy for a broken right arm; at fourteen took up saxophone and clarinet and played local bands and dances.
The Ted Herbert Orchestra was formed in 1935 and played high-school and college dances and ballrooms across the Northeast and New York State. He travelled with and conducted for Rudy Vallee, Patti Page, Frankie Laine, The Four Lads, The Four Aces, The Ames Brothers, Tony Bennett, The McGuire Sisters, Jerry Vale, Julius LaRosa, Peter, Paul and Mary, Les Paul and Mary Ford, Della Reese, The King Family and The Supremes. From 1946 the band played the Hampton Beach Casino for 26 consecutive summers, six nights a week; its last ten years were as house band at the Danversport Yacht Club, Danvers, Mass. He retired in 1990 after 55 years, and reunited the band in 1997 for a concert at the Palace Theatre for the Arthur Mirable Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Family tradition (Craig) remembers 'Emily's father' as owner of Manchester's most prominent music store on the main street - Craig now believes this was Ted. The 'boat yard' in the family murder legend may be a garbled memory of the Danversport Yacht Club. | Piaseczny, Thaddeus S. (I2418)

Obituary, Times Leader, 5 July 1911, p. 20, "Death of Mrs. James Morgan":
Born at Beaufort, Monmouthshire, 14 May 1841. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Evans, emigrated to America when she was three months old and settled first at Pottsville, Pennsylvania, where her father was a foreman for the Frank Daniels Coal Co.; then at Summit Hill, again as foreman; then at Middleport, where he was accidentally drowned at a dam near their home. Her brother Daniel H. Evans, then a young boy, was with him at the time.
She came to the Wyoming Valley about 1873, living first at Nanticoke. She had a paralytic stroke about eighteen months before her death, followed by further strokes, the last on Friday 30 June 1911. She died at 1 Lee Park Avenue at 5.15 pm on 4 July 1911, aged 70. Survived by her husband and two brothers, Daniel H. Evans of Ashley and Alfred Evans of Lee Park. The paper describes her as of a very cheerful and kind disposition. Funeral Saturday 8 July 1911 from the residence (Wilkes-Barre Times Leader, 6 July 1911, p. 6). Burial place not yet found.
1910 census: married 28 years, her SECOND marriage; mother of 4 children, none living. Her first husband's name is not known, so her children may have been from that marriage. No children are named in either her obituary or James's. | Evans, Margaret (I602073252)

On the assisted-passage list from Hamburg to Port Adelaide (arrived 12 January 1877, departed c. July 1876) this child is entered as ADOLPH, aged 2. The seven passengers are Bruno 35, Elise 32, Ida 9, Marie 4, Emilie 3, Adolph 2, and Otto 3/4 of a year - which accounts for every living child of Bruno and Elisa at that date, so Adolph is Alfred Alois under another given name rather than an additional child.
