Possible death (INFERENCE, 26 Oct 2026): the funeral and cremation of a 'George Allan Bushby' were advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald of 10 Jul 1985 (Ryerson Index). Not confirmed as this George Allen. | Bushby, George Allen (I513984068)
|

Possible identification (INFERENCE, 26 Oct 2026, not confirmed): James Walter Thomas Bushby, died 21 Jul 1972 aged 78, late of Mount Ku-ring-gai (Sydney Morning Herald death notice 22 Jul 1972, Ryerson Index); his widow Nita Maud Bushby died 5 Aug 1994 aged 92 (SMH 6 and 9 Aug 1994). The year, the age, the father's name Walter as a middle name and a wife named Nita all fit, but the full name has not been checked in the NSW BDM index. If correct, our 'ABT 1962' death for Nita would be wrong. | Bushby, James (I513984034)
|
| 606 |
Possible later death (INFERENCE, 26 Oct 2026): a John James Bushby died 12 Jan 1968, late of Sutherland (Sydney Morning Herald 15 Jan 1968, Ryerson Index), and a Mary Bushby died 15 Aug 1963 aged 55, also of Sutherland (SMH 16 Aug 1963), who may be his wife Mary Rudge. This conflicts with the 1961 death recorded here; check the NSW BDM index. | Bushby, John James (I513984067)

Possible married name (INFERENCE, 26 Oct 2026): a Norine Carlisle Percival died 29 Dec 1996 aged 94 (Sydney Morning Herald 4 Jan 1997, Ryerson Index). The age fits a 1902 birth and 'Carlisle' (also spelled 'Carlyle') was the name of the Bushby family house in Hill Street, Marrickville. Not confirmed. | Bushby, Norine (I513983994)

Recorded at baptism as "Urs Peter bali" - "den 10 Hornig in zweilig 1783",
Hornig being February, in the family's handwritten record.
Trained by Johann Rudolf Meyer of Aarau. Ran the business autocratically; in his
day virtually the whole industry at Schoenenwerd was home work.
The Ballys were Hintersaessen at Schoenenwerd - resident non-citizens, burghers of
Rohr - until Peter was finally admitted a Buerger of Schoenenwerd on 18 Jan 1834.
In 1807, marrying a Herzog was marrying up.
His brother Niklaus also loved Marie Herzog, lost her to Peter, and the peaceful
relationship of the two brothers was broken. Niklaus then courted her sister
Kathrina, but a throat ailment made marriage impossible; he left the firm and died
in 1833. Kathrina married Colonel Alois Wyser instead.

She died in the 1918 influenza pandemic: her death certificate (as summarised on Find a Grave 35413106) describes her as a 37-year-old nurse, native of Australia, who died of broncho-pneumonia following influenza; the informant was her husband Lewis J. Raby. Find a Grave gives her birth as 14 Aug 1881 in Lancashire; we keep 26 Aug 1878 (INFERENCE: the family emigrated to Sydney about 1880 and her sister Clara was born there in 1881, so an 1881 Lancashire birth does not fit; the certificate probably understated her age). | Bushby, Alice (I513983999)
