Well as family legend has it (and I've heard this from two separate lines of the family that go wayyyy back), my CRUMPLEY line was CRUMPLER at one time. Somebody got killed over a possession of a mule and my line hightailed it out of Dodge, changing the spelling of their name in the process. My Eli CRUMPLEY (1790 in NC - ) married Cynthia DeVAUGHAN (b NC), their son, James M. (6-1822 TN) married a Mary Jane REYNOLDS. I've seen quite a bit of information on the DeVAUGHANs but nothing on the REYNOLDS. James moved around quite a bit, a few counties in Tennessee, then a few counties in Missouri (ending up in Lafayette County), he possibly remarried there.

Sure would appreciate any CRUMPLEY and allied line help.

My ancestor is Eli Crumpley. Are you a relation? We can't find anything beyond him, have some information that he or somebody for him changed the name from Crumpler and his father's name was West. We need to verify this. Can you help?
